Geocache Description:

Eastgate Park in N. Raleigh... hidden in the woods.

This cache is enclosed in a large ziploc bag that has a Gladware storage box in side of that. It contains a log book, pencil, and disposable camera. Take photos of yourself, nature, your GPS unit, whatever. I'll post them online when the camera is filled.

(Note added: 2/16/2003)-- I visited the cache to check on it. I replaced the camera with a fresh one full of film. The photos will be posted to the cache page in a few days. I noticed someone left a pack of Rolaids in the cache... DON'T EVER LEAVE FOOD ITEMS IN A CACHE!!!! Animals will gnaw into the cache to get the food.. bad for the cache and bad for the critters. Leaving food in a cache is against Geocaching ettiqutte and rules. Realllyyy? Who is going to eat food from a Geocache anyway??? DON'T DO IT!!!!

(Note added: 10/7/2002-- I finally visited the cache and did some maintenance on it. The cache now has a camera again! (Please use the flash, the photos will turn out better) It also has a clean moisture-free container and brand new log book. It has numerous gadgets and toys inside. I noticed quite a bit of new trash in the woods since my last visit. Please take trash out of the woods. It makes absolutely no sense to litter. Cache in.. Trash out. Please do a good job hiding the cache with bark when you leave. I have a feeling that a noncacher spied the cache previously & caused all the misery.)

(Note added: 6/2/2002-- Someone apparently vandalized the cache last week. Thanks to Geocacher "Owl & Hawk" the cache was slightly relocated. Hopefully the vandal(s) won't find it this time. I'll check on cache in a few weeks when I get back to Raleigh and replace the camera. Sorry to hear that the cache camera was stolen. The stolen camera now has a curse on it!)

(Note added: 1/4/2002-- I added an edit from the roll of film shot with the first cache camera. I'm terribly sorry if your photos didn't make the cut.. many were underexposed and not workable. I suggest that everyone try using the flash on all the shots. It will help the pictures come out better. I'll add another camera to the cache in a few weeks)

(Note added: 12/30/2001-- I removed the disposable camera the other day to get the film developed, hope to have an edited version of the photos online in a week or so. Sorry I didn't replace camera with a fresh one.)

(Note added: 11/6/2001-- The fort I built with a child hood friend nearby was a simple thing built about 1981. It was cleared away by the Raleigh City Park workers. They left not a trace of it. It was a simple natural lean-to built from old limbs and leaves. It was pretty cool for a 12 year old. There is a tree nearby that has a almost horizontal bend to its trunk. That tree was the main beam of our fort.)

Enjoy the park!
